Another Sister Julie, CSSF, aka Sister Mary Star Trek aka Sister Julianna (who said nuns still don’t take other names?!) sent me some wonderful nun photos. You’ll recognize her name because she often visits A Nun’s Life. Sister Julianna is a Felician Sister, that is a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Felix of Cantalice, Third Order Regular of Saint Francis.
This first nun photo comes from back in the 1980s when Sister Julianna was home celebrating her profession of final vows, August 17, 1986. Sister writes, “My cousin Anthony was telling me a CLEAN joke. The ending of it just took me by surprise!”
This second picture fast forwards to 2003 when Sister Julianna celebrated her 25th Jubilee (a jubilee is an anniversary year). Sister Julianna’s classmate (a classmate is someone who entered the congregation at the same time) Sister Margaret “Mago” Marie Padilla, CSSF, came home from Mexico for the celebration. Sister Julianna writes that Mago “lost her father to a gang shooting on her 18th birthday. She and her family showed their resilient strength and forgiving hearts. Later, Mago pioneered our Felician mission in the desert ranches (ejidos) in Coahuilla, Mexico, where she ministered for 15 years until being elected to council last year.”
Keep sending in your nun photos so that I’ll have stuff to post on Monday which, as you know, is now Nunday! For more details, read my post Nun Photos – Got em? Send em!
